About the Book

Created in consultation with Indigenous and non-Indigenous colleagues at Global Affairs Canada and with Elders, knowledge-keepers, and leaders from First Nation, Inuit, and Métis communities, this book reaches out to children, parents, and educators with messages of compassion and respect between peoples and of reverence for Nature.

Inspired by Call to Action #57 of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, this book encourages the education about the history of Indigenous peoples in Canada and the shared heritage of Canadians.

Images of the over 150 faceless dolls, crafted during a faceless doll workshop at Global Affairs Canada in 2016, grace the pages of the book to acknowledge, honour and recognize missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls, and their families and communities who mourn them.

Net proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to support Indigenous youth educational programs across Canada.
