Specializing in Canadian literature at Acadia University and the University of Toronto, he first became interest in the career of Sir Gilbert Parker while doing post-gradute work under the direction of Dr. Philip Child. He has published several articles on Canadian history and biography, including that of Sir Charles G.D. Roberts.
